THESE SESSIONS ARE GREAT ONE-OFF POTTERY EXPERIENCES FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS . IN THIS FUN INTRODUCTORY CLASS YOU WILL BECOME FAMILIAR WITH A POTTERS WHEEL, TRYING THE PRACTICE KNOWN AS “THROWING”.

YOU WILL BE GUIDED THROUGH THE FUNDAMENTALS BY AN EXPERT TUTOR, WHO WILL ALSO SHOW DEMONSTRATIONS OF CREATING CLAY FORMS.

EITHER BOOK YOURSELF OR AS A GIFT, THIS IS A WONDERFULLY SOCIAL AND SPIRITED INTRODUCTION TO THE JOYS OF THROWING.

WHAT TO EXPECT

These sessions are one student and one tutor to ensure rewarding experience.

A, 2 hour session within a ceramic studio.

Your own dedicated potters wheel.

To keep 2 pieces of work that will be fired and glazed for you. This could include a tumbler, bowl, spoon rest, small vase or handless jug.

PRICE INCLUDES

All tuition, use of a potters wheel, tools & clay.

Firing for 2 pieces of work.

Glaze colour selection from sample range.

ADDITIONAL COSTS:

If you produce additional items you wish to keep, glaze and fire a £10 charge per item is required.

If you require your finished work to be posted to you this will be at an extra charge. And at your own risk.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

Throwing on the wheel requires upper body strength to enable the clay to be centred on the wheel. People with back problems or arthritis may find the wheel experience difficult.

It will be difficult to work with clay if you have medium/long finger nails. Your nails do need to be short.

The bench style wheel seats hold up to 115kg in seating weight.

You will get wet and dirty so old clothes will be required.

The studio is within a working farm environment.

Any items produced, left for glaze and firing will take approximately 4 weeks to process. You will be notified by email once they are ready for collection.

Completed items will be held for 8 weeks for collection. Due to limited shelf space.

A Gift Card is valid for 9 months.
