This is a tutorial style adult drawing and painting class open to beginners and more experienced painters. We provide custom art coaching for each student. Students decide what type of drawing or painting project they want to pursue and Professor Carrie Patterson and her team work with individuals to increase technical skills, find stylistic voice, and critique work.

This is an art class for students ages 6 and up. Projects connect all three types of art making: drawing, painting, and sculpture. Most projects are complete within one class period and students are encouraged to participate in the activity for the day. Projects encourage imaginative, expressive, visual solutions while also building observational drawing skills. Students are introduced to high quality art materials and innovative lessons, many created by Professor Carrie Patterson.

This class is geared towards students 7 and up who are interested in telling visual stories. From comics, to graphic novels, they will learn basics of character design, sequential art, and the human figure.

Intended as a time where homeschoolers or half day seniors, gap year high schoolers, or adults want more time on their projects to work with a Yellow Line Instructor. This class is primarily drawing and painting and open to beginners as well as more experienced painters. We provide custom art coaching for each student directed by Carrie Patterson.

This is an art class for students ages 10 and up. The majority of students are teens working on drawing and painting projects. We provide custom art coaching for each student. Projects encourage imaginative, expressive, visual solutions while also building observational drawing skills. Students are introduced to high quality art materials, contemporary and historical art, and innovative lessons that are created by Professor Carrie Patterson.

Join the Yellow line for plein air painting at the wharf in Leonardtown on September 22nd from 4:30-7:30 pm. All supplies are included in this immersive workshop. Carrie will lead the class through the entire process from composition to finishing touches! Each painter will leave with a completed oil painted masterpiece. Ages 14 +

Learn the basics of monotype, linocuts, and collagraphs on our printmaking press. Students learn the basics of water based printing inks and making an edition. Recommended age 6 and up

Students will get the chance to work in three dimensions with paper, clay, and wood. They will learn the basics of 3D - like carving, modeling, low and high relief. They will also draw and paint their ideas on the forms and on paper. Each student will make between 4-5 art projects in a variety of media. This class is intended for kids who really love art and want to learn sculpture foundations.  Recommended age 7-16.

A four-day acrylic painting class where students learn the basics of tools, materials, and techniques of acrylic painting working from observation. Students are introduced to grounds, supports, brushes, source material, layering paint, stretching a canvas, and more. Each student will make between 3-4 acrylic paintings depending on the size. This class is intended for kids who really love art and want to get better at painting. All material is included. Recommended age 9 and up

Students will get the chance to work in three dimensions with paper, clay, and wood. They will learn the basics of 3D - like carving, modeling, low and high relief. They will also draw and paint their ideas on the forms and on paper. Each student will make between 4-5 art projects in a variety of media. This class is intended for kids who really love art and want to learn sculpture foundations. Recommended age 7-16
