Fresh to Swing Lesson & Social Dance

30-minute Lesson + 2-hour DJ Dance

You've never done this dance before? You don't have a partner? You don't know what to do?

No problem!

This is the perfect class for you! We'll teach you the main elements to get you started swinging it out! Since this is a social dance, you will get to dance many people. Partners are NOT required.

Foundations of Jazz

30 minutes

Start the week with your body feeling good!

This class helps you discover how your body works and how to connect movement. And, it focuses on a single dance concept to help you unlock the next step in your dancing.

All those detailed questions you have can be addressed in this class.

Note: The Foundations of Jazz class helps you with the Progressive Class Series.

Expressions Series

Expressions Series: BALBOA (3-Class Series) (May 20th)

Instructors: Suzanne Kincaid & Jesse Gearhart

Balboa is one of many Swing Era dances. It originated in on the Balboa Peninsula in Southern California. Some dance historians say that it came from Rumba while others say it was derived from the Charleston and Collegiate Shag. Either way, this is a dynamic dance that is great at all tempos but most popular for faster songs.

Characterized by its close embrace with moments of openness, this is a dance everyone should know. You will listen better.

Fundamentals Series

Fundamentals Series: Charleston! (May 20th)

Charleston is one of the foundational basics of Swing Dancing, and its evolution led to the characteristic/hallmark element of Lindy Hop... the Swing Out. Learning how to do this will help everything else feel better and more dynamic!

Have a great time dancing to our talented and dedicated DJs, then join us at Fellini's on Howell Mill for pizza and conversation!

Foundations of Jazz Lesson (7 pm - 7:30 pm)

2 Hours of Social Dancing (8:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
