Have you ever been in awe, watching a shepherd use their dog to move flocks of sheep and wished you could do that?
Here at Cragg House Farm, you can have the most magical Shepherd experience with our talented team of dogs on a traditional hill farm set in one of the most stunning valleys in the Lake District, Buttermere.
Your experience will include: getting to know our sheepdog team and learning about the Border Collie, learning the basic commands, using the commands on our team and finishing off with a fun obstacle course using the dog of your choice.

Goat Picnic
Here at Cragg House Farm, you can have the most picturesque picnic experience on a traditional hill farm set in one of the most stunning valleys in the Lake District, Buttermere, accompanied by our rare breed Bagot goats.
Your picturesque picnic experience will include: exclusive picnic area with 6 seater picnic bench in our secure goat paddock and a bag of complimentary goat feed to treat your field companions with.
Upgrade to our deluxe bundle and receive a lucky dip bar of our homemade, gorgeous goats milk soap.

General T&C’s
- As the Goat Picnic is a standalone personalised experience we can offer slots from 8am - 8pm.
- Goat Picnic Experience provides the unique venue for your picnic - it does not include the picnic or refreshments. Please feel free to bring extra chairs of blankets - the walk from your car park to the goat picnic paddock is less than 60 seconds.
- Only feed the goats the food we provide in your treat bag - they must not consume your picnic.
- All litter must be disposed of in the bins provided in the farmyard.
- Prior to booking a Lake District Shepherd Experience online you MUST make contact via our 'Contact Us' page to check availability. Failure to do so will invalidate your booking and you will be refunded.
- Once booked, dates and times can not be altered.
- All experiences must be booked in advance - we can accept a wide variety of payment types including card, BACS, Apply pay & Google pay.
- Full payment is required at time of booking and is non-refundable.
- Refunds will only be given if we have to cancel due to extreme weather or concerns over the health and welfare of the animals involved - we will discuss this in the lead up to your experience.
- Participants need to be able to walk on uneven ground.
- Parking: Goat Picnic - 2 parking spaces in the farmyard; Lake District Shepherd Experience 0 1 parking space in the farmyard. Extra vehicles can use the ‘pay & display’ parking available in the National Trust Carpark next to the farm.
- You will need sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the current weather - we get a lot of rain at times!
- Please think carefully before booking - If you have a fear/allergy of dogs, sheep or farm animals, and getting muddy then this experience may not be suitable for you as our goats are very friendly.
