Passport Processing Times are currently:
Routine: 4-6 weeks
Expedited: 2-3 weeks (additional $60 expedite fee applies)

Processing time begins when the U.S. Department of State passport agency or center receives the application, not when the Acceptance Agent receives it.

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

REQUIRED – FAILURE TO BRING THE FOLLOWING WILL RESULT IN A RESCHEDULING OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:

☐ Completed DS-11 (Fillable PDF) - DO NOT print double sided.

☐ Proof of citizenship and one photocopy

(Original Birth Certificate, Naturalization Document or previous passport)

  • If there is a previously issued passport, it is recommended that the applicant use that passport. This is especially true of minors and minor-issued passports.
  • The original and the copy will be submitted with your application. It will be returned up to 4 weeks after you receive your passport.

☐ Photo I.D. and a photo copy of the front and back

(Driver’s License, Military ID, State ID)

  • If providing a Driver’s License from a state other than New Mexico or Texas or a state ID, a 2nd photo ID, with photocopy, will be required.
  • If applying for a minor provide parent(s) IDs

☐ Passport Photo

  • Due to the dimensions of the passport photo, please avoid high buns, high ponytails or bows in the hair.

☐ Previous Passports

☐ 2 Checks or Money Orders (see pricing chart)

EXAMPLE: Father needs a passport book, card, and wants to expedite. Daughter is 10 and needs a book and to expedite as well. They both need their photos taken. They will need three checks or money orders. Father’s will be $220 to the US Department of State, the daughter’s will be for $160 to the US Department of State, and one for $90 to NMSU for both application fees and photos.

SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT

The system will only show appointments up to 3 weeks out. If you do not see any available appointments, it is because we are booked out for the entire next 3 weeks. Please check back in a day or two as appointment times may open up.

Scheduling options:

  1. 30-minute appointment – this is for 1 person appointments
  2. 60-minute appointment – this is for groups of 2-3 people.
  3. 90-minute appointment – this is for groups of 4-6 people.
  4. For groups of 7 or more, please email passportoffice@nmsu.edu to schedule an appointment.

PHOTOS ONLY: If you need a photo for passport renewal, student visas, OPT, etc, please do not use the appointment scheduler. Please email passportoffice@nmsu.edu for photo-only walk in hours,
